This is Blog is really great! I've done two summers in Banff (I am Canadian) but it's always great to read these types of blogs to see what other people's experiences are. I love that you lived in the 'crack house' I'm sure everyone who has lived in Banff knows exactly where that is! I actually was living in Banff when you first moved there in October. I've never done a full winter in Banff, just stayed until December my first time. I found the winters to be too cold (an Albertan complaining about cold lol) and too difficult for me to leave as the roads were frequently closed due to snow storms. It's very true that there are a lot of Aussies that come to Banff, there are also a ton of people from Ontario. I'm always the only actual Albertan there.
The only other thing I would mention about living in Banff (especially in the Summer) is use the buddy system if you go out. It's not safe to walk home alone at night if you don't live too close to the bars. There are wild animals that come right into town as well as some dangerous characters that tend to hang around at night.

Glad to see that you had a good experience! I love Banff and I will be working the summer season until I finish my degree then hopefully move there permanently afterwards.
